On Monday, the 8th of November, the International Rescue Committee and the US Mission to the European Union held an online event to launch a policy report entitled Strengthening the COVID-19 response in refugee and migrant communities: Tackling misinformation, improving programming and building inclusion”

The report is based on learnings, best practices and policy recommendations from a series of webinars exploring these themes. Particular strategies explored are: multi-stakeholder partnership approaches, resettlement and integration programming adaptations and refugee engagement and participation. Transatlantic exchange and best practice sharing can support joint humanitarian leadership and deliver better outcomes for refugees and migrants. The event was an opportunity to explore the report’s recommendations, reflect on how learnings from programming can help shape policy responses and identify next steps for policy makers in the EU. Speakers included guests from the EU Directorate General for Home Affairs, New Women Connectors, the Greek Council of Refugees and the IRC.
